Three Chicagoland Athletes Selected to
US Paralympics' National Boccia Team!
By Pam Redding, WSC Staff

Boccia is a game of precision and skill played by individuals with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities. Athletes roll colored balls as close as possible to a target ball to score points and win matches. WSC supports boccia programs throughout the Chicagoland area and assists with monthly tournament opportunities. Boccia is one of the core Paralympic sports, along with cycling and judo, selected for WSC to work toward developing locally.

Because of their demonstrated potential in the sport, local boccia players Luke Labas, Chris Sandoval and Chris Viau were invited to attend the US Boccia National Team Training Camp in Birmingham Alabama.

The four day boccia training camp allowed the athletes to compete with some of the best players from around the country and learn the game from elite level coaches. The three Chicagoland players impressed the US Team Coaching staff and were all named as part of the US Boccia National Team! We are proud that this honor is evidence that the program support provided by WSC has fostered an environment for local success in boccia.
