Multi-sport competition for wounded veterans and active duty service members
Search for veterans continues until July 24th
CHICAGO – World Sport Chicago (WSC) will host the fifth annual Valor Games Midwest in Chicago on August 18-20, 2015. The nonprofit honors those who have served our country with this regional, introductory competition for injured, ill and wounded veterans and active duty service members. During the three-day event, athletes compete in discus, shot put, cycling, indoor rowing, powerlifting and archery.
Organized in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Chicago Park District, The Valor Games gives disabled veterans and active duty service members the opportunity to regain their confidence, purpose and competitive spirit after injury. The event is proud to promote healthy, active lifestyles, which are important to successful community reintegration and overall life satisfaction. Each athlete is required to participate in at least two events. Costs for athlete registration, food, local ground transportation and lodging will be covered.
“World Sport Chicago is so honored to be hosting the Valor Games for the fifth year in a row,” says Stephanie Miller of World Sport Chicago. “We support those men and women who have dedicated themselves to protecting our country and give them the chance to come together for three days that highlight their talents and honor their sacrifice to keeping us safe.”
Miller also added they are still accepting veterans to join the Valor Games. Online registration for participating athletes is open until July 24th.
