Leader. Learner. Warrior. Miguel Vera embodies every attribute society could hope for its future framers to possess, but this wasn't always so. When Jeff Stauter, a teacher at Little Village Elementary School and Miguel’s wrestling coach, first met Miguel he was reclusive, disillusioned with school and his community, and lacking in motivation. Participation in both the group work and the sports components of the Becoming a Man – Sports Edition program, and the support of his teachers began to change him one experience at a time.

WSC has launched “Coach for Chicago” (CFC) to address the lack of coaches and people with sports knowledge to support local sports programs. Coach for Chicago matches schools, parks and social service organizations with enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to helping the youth of Chicago!
World Sport Chicago has partnered with Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, Chicago Wrestling Coaches Association (CWCA), Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF) and other wrestling sport partners in the city of Chicago to help expand and enhance Public League Wrestling. Through targeted initiatives such as equipment grants, coaching clinics, and connecting clubs with resources at the national level, WSC aims to provide the Public League with similar opportunities as its suburban peers.
