Meet an Olympian Contest

World Sport Chicago’s Meet an Olympian Contest was created to encourage Chicago’s youth to set and strive for attainable athletic goals, emphasizing goal-setting skills that are valuable both on and off the athletic field. This summer, Mayor Daley’s Summer Track Program participants are eligible to enter the Meet an Olympian Contest and win a chance to meet Olympic Track and Field Legend, Kipchoge “Kip” Keino, this October! The contest runs from Friday, June 25, 2010 through Sunday, September 19, 2010.

**Unfortunately, due to Mr. Keino's traveling schedule, participants will not be able to meet with him this October. We still encourage participants to record their activities in the Activity Log and to set a goal of achieving the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award! The Contest

Participants will set a goal of staying active 60 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Students must participate in a track and field, cross country or running activity at least 2 days a week; the other 3-5 days a week, students can choose from the list of approved activities. Each day that students participate in an eligible activity, they will record the name and duration of the activity on the Active Lifestyle Activity Log. Because the contest is a goal-setting and goal-executing activity and the challenge lasts for 6 weeks, students must begin their Active Lifestyle Log no later than Sunday, August 8^th, 2010. To be considered for the contest, students must submit their completed Active Lifestyle Log to World Sport Chicago by Sunday, September 19, 2010.

How It Works

Meet an Olympian Contest Form

Students must submit:

Active Lifestyle Activity Log by Sunday, September 19, 2010

Summer Track Coaches must submit:

Coach’s Recommendation Form by Sunday, September 19, 2010

All entries must be emailed to olympiancontest@worldsportchicago.org or faxed (312) 861-4801 to World Sport Chicago by Sunday, September 19, 2010.

Awards

All students who submit a Meet an Olympian Contest Form and Active Lifestyle Activity Log to WSC will receive a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Certificate!
