What if someone told you that an hour of spinning could help stop violence in Chicago â€“ would you step up to the bike?
Spin to Break the CycleÂ is a high-energy, indoor cycling event that raises funds to support World Sport Chicagoâ€™s programs that are having an impact on reducing violence and creating opportunity in Chicago.Â On Saturday, April 18thÂ the event will take over three floors in the House of Blues â€“ creating an emotionally and physically empowering experience.

STEP 1: REGISTER
Gather a group of people and form a team or sign up to spin solo.Â Each person chooses to either spin for one hour, or push themselves to go the distance and spin for three.
STEP 2:Â RAISE MONEY

STEP 3: RIDE IN THE HOUSE OF BLUES
On April 18thÂ The House of Blues Chicago Concert Hall will be filled with riders spinning toward one common goal â€“ breaking the cycle of violence in Chicago. This entry level workout will get your heart pumping and your legs moving as you go the distance to help stop the violence and create opportunity in our great city.
Spin to Break the CycleÂ sponsors and participants will take part in more than a memorable fitness event – they will join together to raise funds to support programs that are designed to build stronger, safer communities across Chicago.
BAM-Sports changes lives through the combination of an in-school social/emotional counseling curriculum and after-school sports. A research trial by the University of Chicago Crime Lab proved that participation in BAM-Sports led to a 44% lower incidence of violent crime arrests and significant improvements in school engagement.

In Chicago access to existing parks or playgrounds can often be obstructed by gang territories and drug trade. A collaboration of private, public and community-based entities, PlayStreets Chicago is a community-driven initiative aimed at reclaiming public spaces and transforming residential streets into places for safe family play.

Educational obtainment is an important predictive measure against youth violent behavior. Created in partnership with Chicago Fire Foundation, Academy of Urban School Leadership (AUSL), University of Chicago and University of North Carolina, P.L.A.Y.S. is an after-school soccer program that embeds character develpment lessons within the sport curriculum. P.L.A.Y.S. focuses on the develpment of grit, a character train that research has show to be an accurate predictor of success.
