On Saturday, June 27th the 7-Eleven City Slam, presented by Brisk, returns to Chicago! Four of the top dunkers in the world will converge in Seward Park (375 W. Elm Street) to kick off the first of three competitions in major metropolitan areas around the United States.
We encourage all who may be interested in attending this event to RSVP today to witness this high-flying FREE event, while supporting World Sport Chicago in our efforts to promote stronger, safer Chicago communities!
This contest will be one of three City Slam events nationwide with the Chicago and Washington D.C. contests being used as semi-finals for a championship tilt in L.A. All three stops will be televised via tape-delay on ESPN2; Chicago’s contest airs on Tuesday, July 28th. RSVP and be in the audience to watch this year’s competitors, which include:
“Sir Isaac” White four-time winner of the Houston Rockets Blacktop Battle Dunk Contest, currently traveling with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Jared Roth winner of the Venice League Beach (VLB) Slam Dunk Contest and current member of Team Flight Brothers, a troop of talented dunk masters touring the USA as halftime performers for major sporting events.
Steven Harris recently toured the country with the Harlem Wizards and is regarded as one of the most explosive Dunkers in the country with his 46” vertical leap. He has never lost a slam dunk contest, most recently winning a dunk contest by leaping over a 7’1” person as a prop.
Antjuan Ball was the national high school slam dunk contest champion in 2011, most recently he played college basketball at West Texas A&M where he is the 2-time Midnight Madness slam dunk champion and was also featured on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays in February of 2015.
You can be part of the action without spending a penny – not only to cheer for the competitors, but to view Chicago sport celebrities Alshon Jeffery and Taj Gibson! Jeffery, wearing number 17, plays wide receiver for the Chicago Bears after becoming a second-round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Gibson, wearing number 22, plays power-forward for the Chicago Bulls after being selected as the 26th pick overall during the 2009 NBA Draft.
